Heartland Marimba, as a featured guest ensemble, performed Badwater Basin by Jenni Brandon at the 7th World Marimba Competition in Stuttgart Germany at 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 15, 2022. The competition was from September 10 – 18, 2022 and held at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart. The university was founded in 1857 and is thus the oldest and, with currently almost 850 students, also the largest university for music and performing arts in Baden-Württemberg / Stuttgart. As part of Stuttgart’s Cultural Mile, it is of immense importance not only as a university, but also as a concert organizer and cultural center for Stuttgart and the region.

Heartland Marimba Quartet, the premier touring ensemble of the Heartland Marimba organization, has appeared in over 160 concerts across the country since its creation in 2016 by acclaimed soloist Matthew Coley. Through its programming choices, HMQ offers a platform to the music of American composers and continues to expand its repertoire with works from composers worldwide. The four distinctly creative forces of Ujjal Bhattacharyya, Matthew Coley, Marco Schirripa, and Hannah Weaver combine to create a virtuosic and electrifying ensemble.
