The Trio of Woods of the School of Musical Arts offered a fresh, new vision of the music for this ensemble, moving away from the traditional repertoire, and exploring new works of the American continent. The program echoed works that in one way or another connect us with nature. The public participated in a sound journey with works that brought us closer to experiences of nature and the human being. From the work of Jenni Brandon, where we came across objects found on a beach, to the internal rhythms of each human being, represented in the work Chron3effect by Theresa Martin, we also experienced moments of loss, represented in the works of Marcos Stuardo and Miguel del Águila.
Found Objects: On the Beach for oboe, clarinet, and bassoon tells of finding objects on the beach – from tumbled stones to sea glass; from driftwood to black feathers on the sand and the seashells that populate the beach as far as the eye can see. This is a six-movement work of approximately 23 minutes.
Premiered by the PEN Trio (Nora Lewis-oboe, Phillip Paglialonga-clarinet, and Eric Van der Veer Varner-bassoon), this work is published by TrevCo Music Publishing on the new PEN Trio Collection Series!
