Cobalt Blue, a new Concerto for Flute (with Piccolo) and Piano (or Wind Symphony), is written for Dr. Jenni Olson and the California Conservatory series and celebrates and explores some pretty iconic and unique things about Long Beach. From the cobalt blue pyramid on the CSULB campus to the Grand Prix races, the beach, and the Queen Mary (including her original Typhoon Horn pitched at A1!), this work takes us on a journey through our fascinating city and tells their stories through the flute.

Dr. Jenni Olson and Hanah Charboneau gave the world premiere of the piano version of this work at Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University Long Beach on September 7, 2025 in Daniel Recital Hall.
