Cobalt Blue, a new Concerto for Flute (with Piccolo) and Wind Symphony, receives its Tennessee Premiere with the Middle Tennessee State University Wind Symphony under the direction of Dr. Reed Thomas. Dr. Deanna Little joins the ensemble as flute/piccolo soloist on this piece that celebrates and explores some pretty iconic and unique things about Long Beach, California. From the cobalt blue pyramid on the California State University Long Beach campus to the Grand Prix races, the beach, and the Queen Mary (including her original Typhoon Horn pitched at A1!), this work takes us on a journey through this fascinating city and tells their stories through the flute, but also the colors and texture of the Wind Symphony.
